You've enjoyed your Holidays meals, now learn how to get rid of that extra weight! |
The holidays are over and a new year has just rolled in. Maybe, like most people, you indulged yourself into eating maybe a little too much. It’s no wonder why the number one New Year’s resolution for most people is losing weight. But very few people actually achieve this goal. Most people make this as an empty promise or maybe they really mean it but they don’t know how to do it.
So, with the idea of helping you achieve this goal and make 2017 the year you turn your health around, here are some tips on how to lose weight after the holidays.
· Be realistic: Many people set themselves for goals that are frankly absurd. They think they can lose 10 or 15 pounds in a week if they starve themselves and go to the gym every single day. Let’s get real and set ourselves achievable goals. One or two pounds a week is a good and reasonable rate of weight loss. This process takes time, rushing it will only cause more harm than good.
· Cheat meals: You’ve heard about them. The key is not doing one of those crazy diets where you can’t eat almost anything, the key is eating properly. A balanced and healthy diet is what you need. However, eating whatever you want once every ten meals will not cause any harm. You can enjoy those cheat meals and not feel deprived of the things you enjoy.
· Eat Often: Yes, a good way to lose weight is eating often. Small and light meals, at least five times a day, will help you boost up your metabolism and regulate your appetite. It will also help improve your mood and energy levels so you can stay active while going back to work after the holiday break.
· Start off easy: Don’t change your diet and lifestyle overnight. The change is often too much for people to bear and they end up getting frustrated and quitting. Make weekly resolutions, change one thing at a time, and when you get used to that change, move on to the next and so on. Like we said before, this is a long process. Starting off easy also gives your body time to adapt to this new rhythm. You’ll notice how your belly will be the first thing to go.
· Lay off the booze: Alcohol packs a lot of calories, and we do mean a lot!. A single bottle of beer carries around 150 calories, and beer is usually the lightest of drinks. So, if you’re trying to get rid of those extra pounds, you should put down the bottle. The same goes for sodas!
· Exercise regularly: Even if you’re not a naturally athletic person, regular exercise does wonders for your figure. You don’t have to run a marathon or spend hours at the gym, a good 30 to 45 minutes long jogging session two or three times a week should do the trick. You’ll feel the difference when you combine exercise with a proper diet in no time.
Losing the extra weight you put on during the holidays shouldn’t be something next to impossible. It is possible as long as you take it one step at a time. The difference is sure to become noticeable in a short time as long as you don’t overdo it.
