After an intense session of working out we feel the burn throughout our entire body. A protein shake is great for this as it helps repair whatever damage was caused to your muscles during the workout. Bananas add flavor and potassium to your shake. 2. Peanut butter: It contains lots of proteins and oils that help your body recover after a good workout. You can serve your PB on top of a couple of slices of whole wheat bread to ensure the maximum amount of fiber and least of carbohydrates on your meal. You could also throw a banana in the mix if you feel like you need something more substantial.
3. Hummus and Pita bread: A great combination of proteins and light carbs. Hummus packs a lot of proteins and very little fat while pita bread is rich in light carbs and fiber, making them the perfect combo after a workout session.
4. Yogurt and fresh berries: Still on the protein theme, low fat yogurt can have up to 15 grams of proteins that contain amino acids, which are the building blocks of your muscle tissue. Berries are a great way to add some flavor and natural sugar to the mix, giving you an extra boost.
5. Tuna on whole wheat bread: A great way to finish off a workout session is with a good snack is with a good tuna sandwich. Tuna, like most fish, contains a lot of protein and very little fat, plus some other nutrients only found in fish such as Omega 3. Just add a drizzle of lemon juice and some olive oil for a little extra flavor and put it between two slices of whole wheat bread and you’ve got yourself a great source of energy after your workout.
